Comicius ("the app") is a comic and manga reader for files you already own. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: your data stays on your device. We run no servers and receive nothing about you.
Your comic files. The app reads the comic archives (CBZ, CBR, ZIP, RAR) in the folders you choose, in order to display them. These files are read on your device and are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). Android requires this permission so the app can open comic archives wherever you keep them (internal storage, SD card, USB). The app only reads comic archives and the cover/metadata inside them. It does not scan, collect, or upload your other files.
Library data. Reading progress, favorites, your list of folders, automatically generated categories, comic metadata, and app settings are stored locally on your device (in app storage) so the app can remember your library between sessions.
Network / SMB (NAS) sources. If you add an SMB / network share, the app connects directly to the server you specify to list and read comics. The password is stored in Android's encrypted secure storage (Android Keystore); the server address and username are stored in the app's private storage. These details are sent only to that server to authenticate. They are never sent to us.
Google Drive backup (optional). If you choose to sign in with Google and back up, the app creates a single backup file in your Google Drive containing your library data, reading progress, settings, and — so a restore is complete — your saved SMB credentials. This uses Google's drive.file scope, which limits the app to only the files it creates in your Drive. The backup lives in your own Google account; the developer has no access to it. Sign-in and Drive are handled by Google; see Google's Privacy Policy for how Google processes that data. Comicius' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
None. The developer operates no backend servers and receives no personal information, usage analytics, or crash data from the app.
Comicius is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
Because your data lives on your device, you can remove it at any time by clearing the app's history and cache in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. If you used Google Drive backup, you can delete the backup file from your Google Drive.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
